The Emerald Benefit is an annual fundraiser founded by Gluten-Free Badgers president Kimaya Soin to support celiac disease research, awareness, and advocacy through the Celiac Disease Foundation’s Team Gluten-Free program. Since launching in 2025, The Emerald Benefit has raised over $65,000 for the Celiac Disease Foundation and has grown into a highly promoted community event bringing together patients, families, healthcare professionals, researchers, local businesses, and members of the gluten-free/celiac community.

The event features a fully gluten-free evening with food, auctions, community stories, guest speakers, and opportunities to support research toward better treatments and, ultimately, a cure for celiac disease. Although The Emerald Benefit is not affiliated with UW–Madison, it shares many of the same values as Gluten-Free Badgers: community, education, advocacy, and support for people living gluten-free.

The 2027 Emerald Benefit will take place on Friday, June 18th at TPC Wisconsin, and there will be opportunities throughout the school year for Gluten-Free Badgers members to get involved through volunteering, outreach, event planning, community education, and fundraising support!
